Fast Six: What's trending in INDYCAR
MAR 28, 2019
INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about NTT IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.
This week’s #FastSix focuses on the surprising yet welcome win by 18-year-old Colton Herta of Harding Steinbrenner Racing in Sunday’s INDYCAR Classic at Circuit of The Americas. What a way to commemorate the first NTT IndyCar Series race at the great track in Austin, Texas. Social media was abuzz following the race.
Angels on the grid
When the NTT IndyCar Series had come and gone from COTA, all that was apparently left was a whole lot of confetti, sprayed to celebrate Herta’s historic win. Austin doesn’t get much snow, so the COTA staff had a creative idea, inspired by colder climes, about what to do.
We'd like to thank everyone who joined us at COTA and at home for the inaugural #INDYCARClassic! It's an honor to at last be a part of this series, and we hope you enjoyed the weekend as much as we did.

If you need us today, we'll be making confetti angels on the main straight. pic.twitter.com/PlrdZCOVuq
Circuit of the … scratch that, COLTON of The Americas!
It wasn’t long after Herta became the youngest driver to win an Indy car race that some clever wordsmith at Circuit of The Americas decided to rename the track’s Twitter account. “Colton of the Americas” has a wonderful and victorious ring to it, don’t you think?
What an honor @COTA π

Home run
Even HSR co-owner George Steinbrenner IV’s New York Yankees tipped their social media hat to his team following the accomplishment at the INDYCAR Classic.
Congrats to @FollowHSRacing, @ColtonHerta, and George M. Steinbrenner IV on their huge victory today! Colton is youngest driver ever to win in @IndyCar, while George is the youngest owner ever to win. https://t.co/nvvO7z8qJc

More to come
NTT IndyCar drivers, past and present, are the best judges of racing accomplishments and talent. Seeing accolades for Herta come from near and far was sublime.

Well done @ColtonHerta 1st @IndyCar winner born in this new century. Being your “teammate” in Daytona, I was amazed with your speed, but I have to admit that is your maturity that goes beyond any thing I’ve ever seen in a young guy like you! Way to go Buddy, first one of many!

A tough day for our @CGRindycar drivers but I have to say massive congratulations to @ColtonHerta ,well done man!! I can’t believe that the cheeky kid who terrorised us back in the AGR days is already an @IndyCar winner. First of many I think. ππΌππΌ

Dream drawing
After his team’s landmark win, Steinbrenner IV showed us just how long he’d been imagining the moment. Dare to dream, young INDYCAR fans, whether it to be an owner, driver, engineer, mechanic or more. They can come true.
My mother dug this up a while back, my crude childhood representation of a crazy dream that somehow just came true @COTA. Thank you to the incredible people who were instrumental in the journey to @IndyCar victory lane. Special thanks to @ColtonHerta, dreams do come true brother! pic.twitter.com/FoFl1ziyL9

Thanks, friends
Herta showed that he is not only a great driver but also a gentleman when he took to Twitter to thank fans and friends for their well wishes.
Finally thank you to all the fans and fellow drivers for all the compliments! It means a lot, still trying to sort through them all!!!!!
