2026 Preview: AJ Foyt Racing
Note: This continues a series of 2026 NTT INDYCAR SERIES team previews on INDYCAR.com. The season starts Sunday, March 1 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg (noon ET, FOX, FOX One, FOX Deportes, INDYCAR Radio Network).
Starting Lineup: Caio Collet (No. 4 Combitrans Amazonia Chevrolet), Santino Ferrucci (No. 14 Homes For Our Troops Chevrolet).
2025 in Review: The highlight came in the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge when David Malukas finished second with Ferrucci fifth. It was the best combined Indy showing for A.J. Foyt-owned cars since 2000 when Eliseo Salazar and Jeff Ward finished third and fourth, respectively. In 1999, the team won the race with Kenny Brack; Billy Boat drove the other Foyt car to a third-place finish. Ferrucci also had a second-place finish in 2025, earning it in the Detroit street race (photo, bottom). Ferrucci finished third at Road America and was fifth at World Wide Technology Raceway. Malukas had several strong qualifying efforts, including a front-row start at Detroit. He also held the No. 2 starting position for the season’s final two races, in Milwaukee and Nashville. Malukas led 97 laps for the season, which ranked sixth among all drivers. He finished 11th in the standings with Ferrucci, who was held out of the Toronto race due to a hand injury, 16th. Collet used a strong second half of the season to finish second in INDY NXT by Firestone. He posted three race wins, including leading all 70 laps in the doubleheader at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. He also won at Road America and totaled three poles during the year. Collet matched series champion Dennis Hauger with 12 top-five and 13 top-10 finishes but finished 72 points in arrears.
New for ’26: With Malukas having moved to Team Penske, Collet takes the wheel of AJ Foyt Racing’s No. 4 entry. There are high expectations for the Brazilian, who turns 24 on April 3.
Keep an Eye on This: Ferrucci’s car will carry a patriotic livery for the entire 18-race season as it promotes the fundraising efforts of Homes For Our Troops. Over the past four Indianapolis 500s, ABC Supply’s $1 million annual matching pledge has helped raise nearly $15 million for the effort. The car should be a big hit during the Freedom 250 Grand Prix of Washington D.C. on Aug. 21-23.
Little-Known Fact: This fact has been frequently discussed, but it gets better with perspective. There have been 804 drivers start an Indianapolis 500, and only one has recorded top-10 finishes in their first seven races – Ferrucci. Harry Hartz and Helio Castroneves each started with five consecutive top-10 finishes; Alexander Rossi is among those who opened with four. Castroneves and Ted Horn each had nine top-10 finishes in their first 10 races. Alex Palou has them in five of his six starts.
